The fine print – please read!

We know you have options when it comes to accommodations in the Lake Tahoe/Truckee, CA area, and to make sure you have the best stay possible if you select the Tahoe Star Hotel, we invite you to review our guest policies.

RATES:    Room and suite rates are based on double occupancy. Additional charges include $25 per night, per guest, including children over the age of two years. A 13.25% Occupancy Room Tax (subject to change) also applies.

DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT TERMS:

To secure your reservation, we do charge the first night’s stay as the deposit at the time of booking on your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express card provided. Your reservation is not confirmed until your deposit has been successfully processed. The remaining balance due will be charged with your card on file, 3 days before arrival date. If you are arriving after check-in hours, your card on file will be charged 3 days before arrival date.

 CANCELLATION POLICY:     We understand that sometimes your travel plans will change. Please let us know seven or more days before your arrival date if you need to make any changes to your reservation. If you do need to cancel, there is a $35 processing fee per room. If you cancel less than seven days of your stay date, you will forfeit your deposit. All cancelled reservations, regardless of notice or reason, will be charged a $35 minimum cancellation fee. Our small business depends on our bookings because we have limited number of guest rooms. This gives us time to re-book the room and keep our small business alive.

Cancellation Policy for Group Events and Holiday Period:           

 Please let us know at least 15 days before your arrival date if you need to make any changes to your reservation. If you do need to cancel, there is a $35 processing fee per room.   If you cancel within 8 to 14 days of your stay date, there is a $100 processing fee per room.    If you cancel within 7 days of your arrival date, you will forfeit your deposit.  Our small business depends on our bookings because we have limited number of guest rooms. This gives us time to re-book the room and keep our small business alive.

*No refunds are provided for late arrivals, early departures, no-shows, or weather-related cancellations.

If you made your reservation through a third party (Expedia, Booking.com, etc.), you are responsible for adhering to the policies that you agreed to when making your reservation through the third party and you must contact them directly to make any changes to your reservation.

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT TIMES:        We ask that guests check in between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm. If you are planning on arriving later than 4:00 pm, please let the innkeeper know so that we can arrange to provide you with after-hours access. Our check-out time is 10:00 am, if you are any later, we do charge $30 late fee.

We are a small business with limited onsite host so our daily hours vary. For inquiries about early check-in please email us your requested time. We can sometimes accommodate depending on availability.

PETS:     Though we are pet people, the Tahoe Star Hotel is strictly Non-Pet hotel. If you are bringing your furry friend to stay with you in Truckee, please contact the Truckee Tahoe Pet Lodge, down the street from the hotel, at 530-582-7268. Of course, Legitimate trained service animals are welcome. This Policy is to ensure the comfort and health of all guests.

PARKING:       There is limited free parking (one space per room) at the back of the hotel off one-way Riverside Drive. The Tahoe Star hotel is not responsible for any damage to or theft from vehicles parked on the premises. There is also public parking across the street, free 6:00 pm to 10:00 am daily, with a fee charged by the Town of Truckee during the day, every day.  During the winter months, conditions may be icy, hazardous and guests are advised to use caution when walking and parking on the property. Vehicles are parked at guest’s own risk. Tahoe Star Hotel is not liable nor responsible for falling snow or ice, or other natural events and for any loss, damage or theft to your personal belongings.

ROOM SELECTION:     We make every effort to keep you in the room you have chosen, however there are times when we do have to move guests around. If this happens, you will receive a room equal in size, price, and amenities. On occasion, you may even be upgraded for no additional charge.

SMOKING:   This property is strictly Non-Smoking (not in any guest rooms, inside the buildings, or on the outside deck and upper main patio). A $300.00 cleaning fee will be charged for violation of this policy. This applies to all types of smoking and smoke-producing substances, including cigarettes, medical marijuana, cigars, vaping, incense and candles. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and health of all guests.

ROOM ITEMS:      If room items are missing, a fee of $45 per missing item will be added to your bill.

 LIABILITY LOST & FOUND:    The Tahoe Star Hotel is not liable for loss, damage, or theft of personal property during your stay. All Guests are responsible for securing their own belongings.  We are sure that you would prefer to not leave items behind but know from our own traveling experiences that it can happen. If you have lost something somewhere along your trip, give us a call and if it is in our lost and found box, we will gladly mail it back to you for the cost of shipping plus a $15 handling fee.

PHONES:        Cell phone reception is very good throughout Truckee regardless of your network provider; therefore, we do not have telephones in the guest rooms.
